VBS Rewind – a Missions & New Ministry Grant Recipient
This year was our second year offering “VBS Rewind” to our VBS families and our congregation. Depending on exact dates we invite everyone 2-3 weeks after our VBS program to come to the church to “rewind” VBS by having the children come up (or stay with their families) and sing the songs as well as enjoy a slideshow of pictures that were taking throughout the week of VBS that include the kids at each station of VBS. Some of the leaders will explain the pictures along with talking about what VBS was all about this year, some of the “best” moments and how much money was raised for a particular outreach/mission. Children also receive a goody bag full of Christian based toys that also match the theme of VBS for that year. This event is piggy-backed with a Free Dinner before and Free Ice Cream Sundaes after.
Our newest event this year was to kick off our community weekend event called Heritage Days. With that, we were able to use the grant money to offer a concert FREE to the public that was Dave Mead Music. He is from Gladwin, Michigan and has been in music his whole life, along with many ministry leads. He was able to bring some of his band members, as well, to provide an experience to many locals who may not or may have never been to a live concert.
Fuel FM radio was there to help entertain, prior to the concert, and MC the event. The event was followed by the Muwendo Children’s Choir (children from Africa that perform through song and dance) which many of our members provided sponsorship for.
We look forward to continuing these events into the years to come as we received many positive remarks from them.
